just get a manual car. We British all drive manual’s and it’s great. You’ve got total control over your car, and it’s a cheap repair if the gears ever go wrong.
If I want to get past someone on the highway, I just drop a gear or two and fly past them, then shift back to top gear and cruise off. ;-P

i dont think american cars have them, but i know japanese cars do. just look at the shift knob, if it has the capability, you will see a + and - off to the side for down and up, easy to notice.

VW, Audi and Seat have the best with the DSG ‘box which offers seamless and fast gearshifts in fully automatic or semi-automatic mode
